About the manufacturer of Vytorin, Schering is the leading
pharmaceuticals manufacturing group in the world. It is a global
research based company which is constantly engaged in manufacturing,
marketing and sale of products, development of products and new
discoveries. The company presently manages nine research and
enhancement centers in United States, Canada, Europe and Japan. It
markets and sells products to Latin America, United States, Europe,
and Japan and to the other parts of the world.
Merck/Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals is a joint venture between
Merck and Co. and Schering-Plough Group of Pharmaceuticals. They
formed and developed a new market in the United States for
cholesterol management. The collaboration was very successful in
creating pills for reducing cholesterol levels and it expanded all
over the world including Japan.
Vytorin is marketed by Schering-Plough in joint venture with Merck
under the trade names of Zetia, Ezemibe and Ezetrol. Ezetimibe is a
cholesterol lowering drug under the formation by Schering-Plough in
collaboration with Merck Group for the possible treatment of high
cholesterol and other heart diseases. Ezetimibe was initially found
by a group of four research chemists in Schering-Plough Group of
Pharmaceuticals. They are Dr. Duane A. Burnett, Dr. Stuart B.
Rosenblum, Dr. Brian A. McKittrick and Dr. John W. Clader.
